This game wasn't very high on my 'can't wait for' list. After watching this video I've changed my mind. By the time it reached the end I was hooked.

At first I didn't know whether I should be looking out for this game or not. The first game was a PC exclusive that everyone always used to make fun of because it took a very expensive PC to run the game at optimum settings. Now the second one is coming to PS3. Here is some recent footage of an online match. So far it looks like it could be pretty good. I just added this onto my gamefly Q.

well it looks like a might nice update to mag is around the corner. i still love this game and hopefully some of you still have it. i know live touched base with it earlier but i thought i would post all the details.

	----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

We have tremendous plans for our “ever-changing global war” that is MAG — and we’re starting with PlayStation Move!

That’s right, later this Autumn MAG will offer full compatibility with the PlayStation Move! This added support means that users have another way to experience the most ambitious first-person shooter out there. Pinpoint accuracy and easy access to all of the game’s mechanics ensure that players of any type — be they hardened veterans or new recruits — can enjoy a shooting experience unlike any other.

But PlayStation Move support isn’t all we’re working on. Because our upcoming content is so important to the game and its future, we want your assistance to make sure we get it right! With that notion in mind we’re pleased to announce that, one week from today on August 24, we’re inviting existing MAG owners to take part in the all-new MAG Beta program!

What are you going to play and test, you ask? How does this hit you?

Escalation Game Type — battle it out with all three factions at once on three never-before-seen maps

New Weapons — each PMC has access to three new guns (9 total) for added firepower

Clan Deploy — a highly-requested community feature that allows clan leaders to launch games with up to 128 clan members in a single match

Updated Skill Tree — enjoy more customization than you’ve ever had before with new skills and an improved progression system

In-game Economy System — earn “credit points” by completing objectives and killing enemies to purchase new weapons and gear

Additional Character Slots — Create a persona for Raven, Valor and SVER on one account for maximum testing flexibility

To participate in the new MAG beta, all you have to do is download the client software from the PlayStation Store when it becomes available next week, insert your MAG disc into the PlayStation 3, sign-in to the beta client and… BOOM! You’re good to go. Reminder: You must have the MAG disc in your PS3 in order for the new beta client to work.

Amazingly, today’s announcement only scratches the surface of what’s planned for MAG’s future. That’s why we’re updating the Official MAG Blog constantly over the next few weeks with new and more detailed information of what you can look forward to, including a post today that explores, in detail, the complexities of our new Escalation game mode.

As always, the entire team at Zipper Interactive would like to thank you, our fans, for your feedback, loyalty and enthusiasm. Your continued support is what makes MAG what it is today, and it’s what inspires us to keep striving to make it better.

Here is the first footage of the Killzone 3 online gameplay. So far I think it looks pretty friggin epic. I'm a Killzone fan, so I'm a little biased. Either way I think we're gonna have some good times when this game comes out. Well, except for Lee. Wasn't it him that had the "Fuck Killzone" comment on his PSN for awhile? Or was that Haven? Anyone remember?

This just in from Gamescom. Resistance 3 has formally been announced. The only thing they showed on it was some cheesy live action trailer. I'll try and keep everyone posted as the info on this game comes. I, personally, didn't like the second one that much, but I know a bunch of you guys loved it. I have a good feeling that this third one is going to be a lot better. We'll see.

For anybody that currently owns MAG there will be a free beta download for it's new expansion pack. This download is going to drop on August 24th. There's a bunch of cool new stuff that's going to be in it, so if you want to read about it just go over to this link right here http://blog.mag.com/blog/2010/08/mag-moves-plus-our-new-beta-program/

In other news, for anybody that doesn't know, Mass Effect 2 is coming to the PS3 in January.

Ok, this is a vid from E3 that IGN put out showcasing the MOVE on Socom 4. After watching this I decided two things. The first thing was that if this game was called "Elite Commandos" or some other stupid name I might of really gotten excited watching this vid. The game really doesn't look bad at all if you forget that this is supposed to be a Socom game. If this wasn't Socom 4 I would probably be pretty hyped for this game. The second thing I decided was that I have nothing "Socom" to look forward to. This game may resemble Socom in some ways, but not enough. Now the only thing that I have to look forward to is a remake of a game that we played 6 years ago, that may or may not actually even be released. Who knows, maybe Socom 4 will be so great that I won't care about a traditional Socom game anymore. Doubtful.

For anybody that is excited for the upcoming Little Big Planet 2 game I have some news regarding the upcoming beta. One of the Media Molecule guys over on their forums posted that the beta will be coming soon. They didn't say how to get into the beta, but they did say that info would also be coming soon as well. I enjoyed playing the first game with my kids a bunch although I didn't get the chance to play it with too many of you guys. Either way, here's the link to the post if you wanna know what the hell I'm talking about. http://forums.littlebigworkshop.com/t5/General-Discussion/LBP2-Beta-Coming-soon/td-p/286667

It's not my kind of game, but I thought I'd throw out there that the beta for Ass Creed Brotherhood is exclusive to PS3. So I guess if you preorder the game from Gamestop you get into the beta. I might Gamefly this one if they get the multiplayer right. As some of you may know I follow a very strong Ass creed myself.

Today news has come out that Slant Six has laid off a bunch of people from their studio. They were rumored to be working on a new Battlefront game that was online only. Some of you may know that Fireflie has been on a quest to try and get Slant Six to make updates and improvements to Confrontation. I, myself, was about to write a very convincing letter to them and any other party that might be involved with seeing any kind of continued support for the game. Sadly, it looks like they are in financial trouble to the point of cutting their studio in half. I still plan on writing the letter, but it looks like I will be sending it to Sony instead of Slant Six. Socom 4 is coming and maybe we can get them to support a game that isn't for everyone other than Socom fans.

http://aow.aowc.net/pt/Slant-Six/blog.htm

http://aow.aowc.net/pt/Slant-Six/blog.htm

SVER is going down

Apparently Zipper is looking into fixing some of the balancing issues within the game. They also dropped word that download content is in the works for sometime in the future.

Now if only Zipper could lend slant six a hand in getting out another map pack for Socom.

Ok, on the east coast the midnight launch is less than an hour away. I should be on as soon as it's done installing. For anybody that hasn't voted on what faction we are going to be you better flippin hurry. You can find the poll on the right hand side of this page.

MAG is coming up. I put up a poll to see what faction everyone thinks we should be. If you plan on getting the game let us know. I've been playing the beta since its closed stage and have enjoyed it a good bit, and that's without a solid squad to run with (I can't imagine how fun its gonna be with a group of us).

I have played with Syphon a good bit back in the closed beta stages and it was a blast. So hopefully a good bit of you guys will give it a chance. Hope to see you on the battlefield.

Well the game is here, and so far it seems like everyone is loving it. From what I understand the online still has a few hiccups. I will not be playing this game for awhile because Gamefly seems to be a little backed up with it. Hopefully they will be able to send me a copy before the end of the year.

I see a whole bunch of AOW on every night playing it, but I don't see many people playing together. I was just wondering if there is a concrete reason for this. Hopefully Fire, Trip, or Skate has set up the clan within the game. I'm not sure if the system is the same as the first or not (people just added their own tags). Sooner or later I'll be on there with you guys, but by then I'll just be another noob getting his ass blasted because I don't know the maps. Can't wait.

The day has arrived. Uncharted 2 picks up a couple of years after the events of Drake's Fortune. Similar to the previous story, Nathan Drake’s (voiced by Nolan North) new adventure revolves around an unsolved historical mystery – this time surrounding Marco Polo and his doomed voyage home from China in 1292. After spending almost 20 years in the court of the emperor Kublai Khan, Marco Polo departed with 14 ships and over 600 passengers and crew – but when he arrived at his destination a year and a half later, only one ship remained, and only 18 of the passengers had survived. Although Marco Polo described almost every other aspect of his journeys in minute detail, he never revealed what happened to the ships that were lost.

I am reading mixed reviews about the single player mode. Feelings about the on line multiplayer mode are fairly consistant though. The one feature I have been looking forward to is the online co-op mode. I played some co-op during the beta and had a lot of fun with it. Unfortunately, you can only play with 3 people in co-op mode. The other online modes allow for 10 people to a room and are a lot of fun also. Also, for those of you that hate FPS's, have no fear, you don't have to worry about it with this game. This is a third person shooter. Those of you that are not planning on buying this game should seriously consider renting it and checking it out. It might just change your mind.

I just wanted to post this before the week is officially over. For those that don't know, this week was AOW's 5 year anniversary. I'll put up another post soon regarding how we'll be celebrating this year, and no, it doesn't involve Skate giving out handjobs. Happy Birthday AOW. It's been a crazy five years.
Skate already had this posted but something was messed up. It was coming out as a big wall of text on our home page, so I figured I would repost the info. Here it is.

Crashes, Freezes and Hangs Fixed

Players being booted out of the game to the XMB while loading into gameplay.

Players freezing on the loading screen going into and returning from gameplay.

Loss of input issues that occurred when using the pause menu or scoreboard.

Low frequency freezes when creating a clan.

Players occasionally getting stuck on the Quick Match screen after selecting an invitation.

Rare cases where players would become stuck in Spectator mode.

General Gameplay Updates

Numerous improvements to lag and latency, as well as bandwidth optimizations.

To eliminate exploits where players were escaping to outside of the playable space, many of the previously found routes are now blocked off. As a further measure, the playable areas are now surrounded by trigger volumes that will kill players attempting to find new exploits.

Players are no longer able to plant claymores through pillars, walls and other objects.

Target spotting will now default to OFF in all ranked games.

On September 1st the PS3 will recieve the new Firmware 3.0 update that will add a bunch of new features to the xmb. Here is the list as detailed by Sony.

“What’s New” – The “Information Board” will be replaced with a “What’s New” section, which allows you to enjoy interactive PlayStation news every time you start the PS3 system. Located under the PlayStation Network icon, “What’s New” displays the latest and greatest game, video, PlayStation Network and PlayStation news and releases, as well as your recently played games, in a sleek, new animated format.

Status Indicator – In the top right corner we’ve added an indicator bar, which displays your user icon, friend icon, the number of friends you have online and a small message icon to let you know if you have any new messages. The indicator also includes a scrolling ticker that features the latest news from PlayStation Network. In addition, when you press the PS button, the battery life indicator will no longer cover up the clock.

Friends List – Now your PlayStation Network friends will appear in a slightly redesigned format on your Friends List. Also, messages will now be viewable from each of your friends’ respective profiles.

PlayStation Store Shortcuts – We’ve added a handy shortcut icon to the PlayStation Store under both the Game and Video categories so you can access the latest content quickly and easily.

Personalization – Personalize your PS3 with new dynamic custom themes and avatars. Dynamic themes as well as free and premium avatars will be available through PlayStation Store. A dynamic theme takes your screen to a whole new level as it incorporates animated objects into the background.

Trophies – Showcasing your hard earned trophies just got better. Update 3.00 gives game developers the ability to modify how they display trophies for add-on content. Base and add-on game trophies will continue to be combined into a single list so you can see where you stand in a game as a whole. Within that list, trophies will be broken out into subcategories—base trophies and add-on trophies—that way, you can easily view the percentage of your base game trophy collection, and separately track your trophy progress in add-on packs. Look for this enhancement to be included in upcoming games.

Well, that is about it. You will notice that there is no mention of Cross game voice chat. Maybe next update, *sigh*

Clan Vid

After over a year of holding onto the video footage the clan video is finally complete. The version I have here is very low in quality because the actual version is 1.4 gigs. I will be posting the higher resolution copy of the vid soon. Also, when I made the video I didn't pay attention to who was on each clip, I was just trying to match them up to the music. So what happened is Trip and BigE took up most of the first minute (didn't realize this until the video was complete).

If you were part of the video and are wondering why you have very little screen time it is because I only took clips of kills and such. So if you didn't have many kills then you don't have much screen time. I used around 160 clips in making this video. The original footage I took the clips from was around 60 gigs. Because of editing reasons I had to reuse only one clip. Can you find the re-used clip in the video? If you can then post it in the comments.

I will be starting a new video soon for the many, many AOW members that didn't make it into this one. The next video will be Socom only. I will put up dates for recording. I plan on three nights of taping, so if you're not there for any of those nights then you are shit out of luck. Good day sir!

AOW and Uncharted 2

Alright, Sony was kind enough to send me an invite to the Uncharted 2 multiplayer beta, and I can honestly say I was shocked. The online portion of the game is very solid. It has co-op and competitive modes with all the trimmings. They have added such things as a level system with upgrades and slots. The gameplay is a lot like the gameplay from the first game which was pretty good in itself. I didn't like that all the models were just character's from the game which had a ton of people looking the exact same. Hopefully they add some variety when the game releases. Other than that I don't have a lot to complain about. I do know that AOW will be having a blast with this game when it comes out. I will keep everyone posted on details as they come out.
